Getting to Piancavallo, Italy for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Piancavallo ski resort is located in the eastern Alps and is 100kms north of Venice. Only directly accessible by road, the most common and quickest travel option is to fly to Treviso and hire a car, or take a train/bus transfer from the airport. Self-drive is the most arduous travel option, due to the distance involved; while rail travel is straightforward.

Treviso Airport is the nearest major airport to Piancavallo ski resort and has car hire facilities. Taking a train to Aviano, from Treviso, and then local bus to the resort is more practical. Venice-Marco Polo Airport receives more flights than Treviso and is the best alternative.

By car, Piancavallo is fairly remote, but within range of the European motorway network. Both Milan and Munich are 400kms away; Paris is 1,250kms from the resort; and Calais is 1,500kms away. The 14-hour route from Calais goes via Reims, Metz, Strasbourg, Basel, Lucerne, Milan, Mestre and Longarone. From Longarone, follow the SS-251 east to Piancavallo.

If you’re coming from the UK by train, there is a regular Eurostar service to Paris from London. Time the London-Paris service to coincide with the direct overnight service from Paris to Milan. Trains then run on to Mestre, via Verona, from where regional trains go to Aviano, via Treviso and Conegliano. A bus or taxi will then take you to Piancavallo from Aviano.

Eurolines buses serve Mestre and Treviso from major European centres, including London, and offer the cheapest form of travel.
