Getting to Powderhorn, USA for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Powderhorn ski resort is located in southwestern Colorado, 200kms southeast of Grand Junction and 365kms southwest of Denver. Many people take a flight from Denver International Airport to Walker Field Airport in Grand Junction and drive from there, while others prefer to drive from Denver.

Denver International is the closest major airport to Powderhorn ski resort, with arrivals from around the world, including London. From Denver, flights are available to Walker Field Airport with America West Express, Sky West/Delta and United Express Airlines. Shuttle buses run from the airport to the resort, or you can drive yourself. Eagle County Regional Airport and Colorado Springs Municipal Airport are alternatives.

By road from Denver International Airport, take I-70 to exit 261, from where highway 470 goes to Soda Lakes and highway 285 goes southwest to Poncha Springs. From there, take highway 50 west to the Curecanti National Recreation Area, from where highway 149 goes south to Powderhorn (400kms; five to six hours). From Grand Junction and Walker Field Airport, take highway 50 to Sapinero and follow the signs south to the resort (200kms; three hours).

You can also get to Grand Junction aboard Amtrak’s California Zephyr train, which runs regularly between Denver and San Francisco to Grand Junction. Greyhound buses also run to Denver and Grand Junction throughout the day.
