Riederalp / Bettmeralp ski resort is located 160kms southeast of the Swiss capital, Bern, in the canton of Valais, and is accessible by road, and rail, then cableway. There is an international train connection from London to Brig, and self-driving is straightforward, with a good network of motorways. The most convenient way to get here is to fly to Geneva or Zürich and hire a car.
Zürich and Geneva airports are equidistant from Riederalp and Bettmeralp, with the former receiving more worldwide flight options and the latter having faster car and train connections. Trains from Zürich International Airport take on average 3 hours, 30 minutes. It is about three hours from Geneva-Cointrin Airport. Transfer by hire car will save you an hour.
The quickest self-drive route from Calais goes along autoroutes and autobahns, via Reims, Dijon, Lausanne, Sion and Brig. From Brig, head for Bitsch and Ried bei Morel, and the take the cableway (920kms; nine hours). From Zürich International Airport, bypass the city and head along the A-4 and A-2 autobahns to Airolo, and then head west for the resorts along route 19 (214kms; 2 hours, 45 minutes).
Train connections from London to Brig leave throughout the day and there are a number of changes (10 to 18 hours). The most convenient connection has a Eurostar leaving Waterloo station at 08:12 for Paris (Nord). A TGV goes from nearby gare de Lyon to Lausanne from where an Interregional train goes to Brig. From Brig, a bus goes to Morel then a cable car transfers you to Riederalp.
