The resort of Riksgransen is very isolated, and is located next to the Norwegian border and 130kms from the nearest town. Getting to the resort is not as hard as it may seem, with the most practical way of getting here being by air to Kiruna via Stockholm, and a journey by road in less than two hours to the resort. Alternatively, fly to Stockholm and catch the overnight train direct to the station at Riksgransen. A pre-booked package deal will invariably arrange all travel for you.
The nearest international airport to the resort of Riksgransen is 1,500kms away in Stockholm. However, there is a domestic airport in Kiruna, just 130kms from the resort, and serviced by Stockholm. From Kiruna, take a bus or taxi transfer to the resort; this should ideally be booked in advance.
By car, Riksgransen is 30 hours (1,771kms) from Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the UK. The journey involves a ferry crossing to the port of Gothenburg in Sweden, before heading to the northernmost region of Sweden. By car from Stockholm, the journey to the resort is 1,360kms (about 18 hours) on the E04 motorway before following road signs to Riksgransen.
By train, there are various options to Riksgransen, including Eurostar travel via Brussels to Sweden. However, the easiest route with the least connections can be booked with DFDS Seaways for all travel to Gothenburg by train from London. Take the train from London to Newcastle and board the DFDS ferry travelling to Gothenburg. From Gothenburg, take a train to Stockholm from where you can travel direct on the overnight train to the station at Riksgransen. The journey from Stockholm to Riksgransen is 18 hours.
