Getting to Rogla, Slovenia for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Rogla ski resort lies to the west of Maribor and northeast of Ljubljana, and is only directly accessible by road. The most convenient way to get here is to fly to Ljubljana and hire a car, or take the Skibus. International rail travel is fairly straightforward and goes as far as Celje, while self-drive involves a long drive from many European countries, especially the UK.

Ljubljana-Golubovci Airport and Graz-Thalerhof Airport are about the same distance away from the resort. From Golubovci Airport you can take the Skibus, via Celje and Zrece, or take the train to the former and local bus from there. If coming from Graz, access is via the city of Maribor.

By car, you can reach Slovenia via one of the border crossings with Italy, Austria, Hungary or Croatia. From Ljubljana or Maribor, Rogla can be reached by the E-59 highway, and the Slov Konjice exit. From the exit, follow the signs to the resort. The best route from Calais goes via Reims, Metz, Strasbourg, Stuttgart, Munich, Salzburg, Villach and Klagenfurt.

From Klagenfurt, continue east along the A-2 and take exit 264 on to the L-135 for Slovenia, following the signs for Dravograd and Rogla (1,400kms; 12 to 14 hours).

By train, you can access Ljubljana or Maribor from Italy, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Yugoslavia and Macedonia. If you’re coming from the UK, the best option is to take the Eurostar service to Paris from London (Waterloo). There is a direct overnight service to Munich from gare de l’Est, from where a Eurocity train goes to Graz. Head south from there to Maribor, from where an express train runs along the Ljubljana-Maribor line; you need to change to a bus at Celje station.
