Getting to Saalbach / Hinterglemm-Leogang, Austria for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Located to the southwest of Salzburg in the province of Salzburg, Saalbach / Hinterglemm-Leogang ski resorts are straightforward to get to with a number of travel options. The easiest way is to fly to Salzburg or Munich, take the train to Zell am See, and then the bus from there; alternatively, driving is much quicker. You can also travel by train from London or drive all the way.

The nearest international airport is Salzburg, which receives worldwide scheduled and charter services; however, Münich's FJ Strauss Airport has far more options. There are direct trains to nearby Zell am See from both Munich and Salzburg (shuttles and buses go to Salzburg train station from its airport). You can either take a cab the remaining 18kms to Saalbach, or wait for the regularly scheduled bus. You can travel all the way to Leogang by train.

By car, the drive from Munich Airport to Saalbach takes about three hours, along autobahns A-9, A-99 (bypass), A-8 and A-93. From the A-93, take the B-172 east and follow the signs to Saalbach / Hinterglemm-Leogang (216kms). From the Salzburg autobahn take the Siegsdorf exit, then follow signs to Lofer-Maishofen, and then to Saalbach Hinterglemm. The journey from Calais is 1,150kms, via Reims, Metz, Strasbourg and Munich.

By train, travel from London to Paris by Eurostar, leaving London at 17:09 and arriving in Paris (gare du Nord) at 20:59. Travel from Paris to Munich overnight, leaving Paris' gare de l'Est at 22:56, and arriving in Munich at 08:59 the next morning. The Munich to Salzburg EuroCity train then leaves at 09:26, arriving in Salzburg at 10:54. Buses run hourly to Saalbach and Hinterglemm.
