Saint-Lary-Soulan ski resort is located in the south of the Midi-Pyrénées province, near the Spanish border, and is only totally accessible by road. The most common way to get here, if you’re not on a package holiday, is to fly to Tarbes-Ossun-Lourdes Airport and take a shuttle/train/bus combination to the resort. Alternatively, there are train connections from London, and self-drive is also feasible.
The nearest international airport is Tarbes-Ossun-Lourdes Airport and there are regular shuttles and buses to the town, and train station, from where SNCF coaches go to Saint-Lary-Soulan. Toulouse-Blagnac Airport is the alternative airport, which receives far more flight options. Trains from Toulouse’s Matabiau station terminate at Lannemezan, from where SNCF coaches go on to Saint-Lary after each arrival.
Self-drive starting from Calais involves a 1,130km journey along a well established route using major tolled autoroutes. Take the A-26 for Paris; the A-10/20 for Toulouse; and then follow the A-64 and D-929 to Saint-Lary-Soulan. From Tarbes-Ossun-Lourdes Airport, head north to the A-64, east to the D-929 exit, and then south to the resort (one hour).
From Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, head south away from the city onto the A-64, and then exit south onto the D-929. Access from Spain is via the A-138, which links-up with the E-7 and E-90 from Madrid.
By train from London there is a Eurostar service to Paris’s gare du Nord, leaving Waterloo station at 09:09 and arriving in Paris at 12:53. From the nearby Montparnasse 1 Et 2, a TGV high-speed train leaves for Tarbes at 14:40 and arrives at 20:23. From Tarbes there is a SNCF coach link to Saint-Lary.
