Getting to the resort involves connecting by air, train and road unless you opt for a road journey, which will include a ferry crossing. The most practical way to get to Salen is to fly from the UK to Mora's domestic airport, 90kms from the resort, via Stockholm, and then take an airport transfer service or bus from there. Alternatively, fly to Stockholm and catch a train to Mora, from where there is a regular bus service.

The nearest international airport to Salen is in Stockholm, 400kms from the resort. There is also a domestic airport at Mora which is just 90kms from Salen. Fly via Stockholm to Mora and transfer from there to the resort by transfer or regular bus service. Alternatively, fly to Stockholm and catch a train to Mora before boarding a regular bus service to Salen.

By car, Salen is 530kms and a 14-hour journey from Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the UK. This involves a ferry to Hirtshals in Denmark before proceeding on to Gothenburg in Sweden. From there, travel north following the 45 road and then the E18 towards the resort of Salen. If flying to Stockholm, the journey from Stockholm Airport will take between four and five hours (400kms). Follow the signs to Sala, Falun, then Mora, and finally Salen.

By train, there are various options including Eurostar travel via Brussels to Sweden. However, the following option has the fewest connections and can be booked with DFDS Seaways for all travel to Gothenburg by train from London. Take the train from London to Newcastle and board the DFDS ferry travelling to Gothenburg. From Gothenburg, take a train to Mora and connect with a bus service to the resort of Salen, just 90kms away.
