Getting to Seefeld, Austria for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Seefeld ski resort is 25kms northwest of Innsbruck, the provincial capital of Tyrol, and is easy to get to with several travel options. The most practical option is to fly to Munich Airport and drive from there, or take the train. Alternatively, the most convenient option is to fly to Innsbruck and take the Skibus. You can also travel by rail all the way from London, or drive.

Munich's FJ Strauss Airport is the gateway international airport and has a rail terminal with a connection to Seefeld, via Munich city. Many travellers from Munich prefer to hire a car and drive through the picturesque Garmisch-Partenkirchen ski resort, north of Seefeld. For European travellers, Innsbruck Airport is a far better option, being only 21kms from Seefeld.

By car from Munich Airport, head south on autobahns A-92, A-9, and the A-95/E-533 to Seefeld; the distance is 157kms and it should take about two hours. From Innsbruck, drive west along the A-12 autobahn exiting on to the B-177 at junction 87. The drive from Calais is a long one at 1,074kms, but the route takes in major motorways and autobahns through Reims, Metz, Strasbourg, Stuttgart and Munich; allow two days travel time.

Daily trains go from London, with changes at Paris and Munich, via an overnight train. Trains leave London's Waterloo Station at 17:09 and arrive at Paris' gare du Nord at 20:59. From Paris' gare de l'Est, an overnighter goes to Munich at 22:56, arriving at 08:59 the next morning. From Munich, several trains go to Seefeld, via Garmisch-Partenkirchen. More than a dozen trains per day depart from Innsbruck for the 40-minute trip to Seefeld.
