Getting to Silvaplana, Switzerland for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Silvaplana lies towards the southeast of Switzerland, near the famed resort of St Moritz. Getting here involves air, rail and road travel, with the most convenient route being a flight to Zürich, then a train and bus service to Silvaplana via St Moritz. An alternate option is to travel by train from London to Paris via the Eurostar and then by overnight train from Paris. This arrives in Chur, from where you board another train to St Moritz, before taking a bus or taxi to the resort. A package deal will often include travel arrangements.

Zurich International Airport is the closest to the resort at only three hours’ journey time. From the airport itself you can board a train to the station at St Moritz before connecting on to a regular efficient bus service or catching a taxi to the resort of Silvaplana.

By car, Silvaplana is about 967kms from Calais, with a driving time of 10 hours, 20 minutes. Toll road costs will be around €19, with the journey going through France and Switzerland. If flying to Zürich International Airport and hiring a vehicle, travel for three hours via Chur to Thusis and on to the Julier Pass, before heading to the resort of Silvaplana.

By train, take the Eurostar service from London Waterloo or Ashford in Kent to Paris, taking around four hours. Then travel on the overnight train to Chur and change on to the local line to St Moritz, a further 12 hours in total. From there, take a taxi or catch one of the regular efficient buses to Silvaplana. These take just 10 minutes and travel between the resorts.
