Getting to Solda Trafoi, Italy for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Situated in the northern part of Italy in the Stelvio National Park, 245kms northeast of Milan, Solda - Trafoi ski resort is fairly remote and only directly accessible by car. Options for getting here include: air travel and train/bus transfer (quickest option); international rail travel to nearby Silandro, and bus from there; and self-driving.

Bolzano Airport is the nearest and it receives regular flights directly from London. Trains go from here to Bolzano, from where services go to Silandro, via Merano. Buses go on to Solda and Trafoi from Silandro. Alternatively, fly to Milan or Venice and take a train/bus combination, or hire a car.

By car, Solda and Trafoi are easily accessible from every part of Europe, through the Brenner Pass, and in direct link with all the rest of Italy. If coming from the UK and the port at Calais, the quickest and most efficient route uses major autoroutes and autobahns, via Reims, Metz, Strasbourg, Basel, Zurich and Landquart.

From Landquart, take route 28, leading on to the SS-41 at the Italian border, and follow the signs to Solda - Trafoi ski resort (1,080kms; 10 to 11 hours). From Milan-Linate Airport, head north along the A-51 and SP-71 to Lecco, from where routes SS-36 and 38 lead to the resort (245kms; four hours).

By train, there is an overnight service from Paris to Verona, from where a regular service goes to Merano on the Verona-Trento-Bolzano-Merano line. Change here for a Silandro-bound train, and then take a bus from Silandro to Solda or Trafoi. Regular Eurostar trains go to Paris from Waterloo station in London.
