Squaw Valley USA ski resort is located near the northwestern corner of Lake Tahoe, 70kms southwest of Reno and 315kms northeast of San Francisco. The best way to get to Squaw Valley is to fly to Reno and transfer by shuttle bus. Alternatively, taking a train to Truckee and transferring from there is also feasible, as is self-drive from San Francisco.
Reno/Tahoe International Airport has more than a hundred non-stop flights a day from various parts of the country with major carriers, and is the closest airport to Squaw Valley ski resort. Shuttle buses run to most major hotels from the airport and to other resorts in the area. If you’re transferring by car, head west along I-80 past Truckee and exit on to highway 89 at exit SR-89 for Squaw.
San Francisco is about four hours away via I-80 to the northern shore of Lake Tahoe via the all-weather I-80 and highway 89. The California Highway Patrol doesn't let drivers come up the mountains without chains or a four-wheel-drive vehicle in adverse weather conditions.
By rail, Amtrak trains serve Truckee and Reno on the California Zephyr line, running from Oakland to Chicago. Shuttles run from here to the Tahoe resorts, including Squaw Valley.
Greyhound buses offer daily transportation services to Truckee, while Tahoe Regional Area Transport has services running several times daily from Truckee and Tahoe City to Squaw Valley resort.
