Getting to Vars, France for your Skiing and Snowboarding Holiday

Lying 160kms southeast of Grenoble, near the Italian border, Vars ski resort is only directly accessible by road and is best accessed by flying to Turin and hiring a car. There is good rail access to nearby Montdauphin-Guillestre from Paris and self-drive is also popular.

Turin-Casselle Airport is the nearest; however, the larger international airports of Lyons and Marseilles offer more flight options. Marseilles-Marignane and Lyon-Satolas both receive direct scheduled flights from the UK and have rail terminals with links to Montdauphin-Guillestre (near Vars). Buses and taxis go from here to the resort.

Vars is 150kms from Turin and 765kms from Paris and is easy to get to from the European motorway network. If you’re coming from the UK, the quickest route from Calais goes via Reims, Dijon, Lyon and Chambery, from where the A-43, A-32 and N-94 go to Vars ski resort (1,060kms; 11 hours).

By train, a high-speed TGV service links Paris with Grenoble in three hours, from where a regional service goes to Montdauphin-Guillestre. Buses and taxis regularly ply the route to Vars from here. Eurostar trains from Waterloo station in London arrive in Paris, gare du Nord, in under four hours.
