Ski and Snowboarding Information for Adelboden / Lenk, Switzerland

Adelboden / Lenk is one of Switzerland's best loved resorts, with one of the largest ski areas in the Swiss Alps. The resort is surrounded by 3,000-metre high mountains and is set within a fantastic environment promoting great health and wellness for all its visitors.

Past and future host of the FIS Ski World Cup for men, the resort of Adelboden / Lenk is the perfect place to experience great ski runs within an amiable German/Swiss atmosphere. The resort offers some great nightlife options, including bars, discos and musical performances, while providing 17,000 beds in comfortable traditional wooden chalets.

The 170kms of prepared slopes at the resort offer a diverse, well groomed selection of terrain suitable for all abilities, with 46 per cent of runs for the beginner, 44 per cent for intermediate level and 10 per cent for advanced skiers. There are 46 lifts which service Adelboden / Lenk, including cable cars, gondolas, chairlifts and T-bars, with an uplift capacity of 32,350 skiers per hour.

The longest run at the resort is six kilometres, and the total vertical descent is 950m with a top elevation of 2,350m. There are also an additional 77kms of cross-country ski runs in the immediate area, plus well-staffed schools at both villages in the resort.

The resort has plenty on offer in terms of non-ski alternatives such as leisure facilities and activities ranging from hang-gliding, paragliding, curling, ice-skating, sleigh riding, snowshoeing, and ice-climbing, to guided ski tours and irresistible overnight stays in igloos. Over a dozen mountain restaurants plus bars, cafés and restaurants within the resort provide great culinary delights and lively entertainment, while special cultural events and theme nights make this a cultural experience not to be missed.

The season runs from December to April at Adelboden / Lenk, with great conditions all season and almost guaranteed snowfall due to the resort's elevation. Combination learn-and-ski passes are available at reasonable prices from both villages.

Zürich is the nearest international airport at 195kms from the resort, with trains from the airport running to Bern and then on to Frutigen, just 15kms by bus to the resort. Alternatively, catch a flight to Basel and travel by train to the station at Frutigen.
