Made up of the seven parishes of Conco, Enego, Foza, Gallio, Lusiana, Roana and Rotzo, Altopiano di Asiago 7 Comuni ski resort offers 100kms of varied skiing and extensive cross-country trails, and is situated close to the Trentino region and flanked by the mighty Dolomites.
The resort villages have plenty of facilities, including childcare, first-aid and numerous shops. Lodging options range from luxury five-star hotels, chalets and apartments, to camping facilities, and there are 22,000 beds in total.
Asiago’s 100kms of slopes are superb and varied, with an emphasis on the beginner, and there is also some quality intermediate and advanced terrain for both skiers and snowboarders. The longest piste is 2.5kms. Sixty-nine lifts have an hourly capacity for 50,500 people. Extensive cross-country skiing is Altopiano di Asiago’s main drawcard, and there are 250kms of trails.
Other winter activities and facilities include: ice-skating (natural); tobogganing; horseback riding in the snow; and dog-sledding. There are also three indoor swimming pools and indoor tennis. The villages share a rich programme of cultural and artistic events and après-ski is lively, with 10 discos and over 100 bars.
The December to April ski season at Altopiano di Asiago has its best snow in February and low season rates in January and March, known as ‘White Weeks’.
The most popular way to get to Asiago, apart from a package deal, is to fly to Venice-Marco Polo and take a train from Mestre to Vicenza, from where buses go to the resort villages. Car hire from the airport is an added expense, but much more convenient.
