Ski and Snowboarding Information for Banff Mount Norquay, Canada

Banff Mount Norquay ski resort is near Banff in the Canadian Rockies, and is renowned for its challenging runs and impeccable grooming on well-sheltered slopes. Snowboarders have some monster moguls on the expert terrain; while the thoroughly groomed terrain park has a super-pipe, quarter-pipe, tabletops, 10 rails, two jib boxes and gap jumps.

Mount Norquay resort itself has all essential facilities, apart from accommodation, including childcare and a day lodge; while the majority of services and all accommodation is in Banff. Over 4,500 beds are available in 40 hotels and lodges in Banff, and plenty more in the nearby town of Canmore.

There are 31 runs at Mount Norquay, which are divided into 20 per cent for beginners, 36 per cent for intermediates, 28 per cent for advanced and 16 per cent for expert snowboarders and skiers. Much of the expert terrain involves steep descents and bumps, while the intermediate and beginner terrain is smooth. The longest slope is just over one kilometre, and five lifts provide access. Fifty kilometres of cross-country trails are also on offer at Mount Norquay.

Other winter activities and facilities at Mount Norquay resort include: snowblading, night skiing (16:00 to 21:00, Fridays), ski jumping and ice-skating. There are also spa facilities in town. Après-ski at the resort is in the day lodge with a deli, restaurant and pub; while the town is loaded with fine restaurants and lively bars. Alternatively, there is a cinema, arts centre and museums.

The December to April ski season at Banff Mount Norquay offers cheaper deals on ski packages at the beginning of the season. A combination of flying to Calgary International Airport and shuttle bus transfer with the Airporter service offers the most practical way for getting to Mount Norquay.
