Bjursas is one of Sweden's smaller resorts, with a very traditional ski ambience in a convivial and relaxed setting. It offers a ski experience without the usual distractions of larger resorts, and is a charming place to relax and unwind.
There are a small number of beds available at the resort in some 20 rooms, which makes for a less crowded and much more intimate setting. The accommodation itself is in traditional cabin style, with facilities such as restaurants and saunas conveniently available at the residences. Non-ski activities are also handy and easily accessible from all accommodation.
There are 16 varied runs at Bjursas, adding up to 94kms of glittering slopes. These are split 56 per cent for the beginner, 25 per cent for intermediate level and 19 per cent for the expert. The top elevation at the resort is at 398m with the bottom lift reaching 200m at resort level. The total vertical descent is a quick 198m.
Seven lifts service the area, with a total uplift capacity of 7,200 skiers per hour. For those looking for something a little more challenging, there are a further 35kms of cross-country slopes. Some great off-piste action is available at the fantastic combined ski and snowboard park, which stretches over an area of 14,000 square metres and is fit for both beginners and experts.
There isn't a whole lot on offer après-ski wise at the resort, apart from the chance to really relax and unwind at one of the three restaurants and bars serving up traditional Scandinavian fare as well as fast food. If the thrill of activity still tempts you, try your hand at horse-drawn sleighing, natural ice-skating or indoor swimming, then lay back and soak up the invigorating ambience at the sauna and spa.
The season here runs from early December to April with good snow conditions throughout.
