Ski and Snowboarding Information for Bohinj, Slovenia

Bohinj ski resort comprises two main ski areas, Kobla and Vogel, and both are situated in the Triglav National Park, in the Julian Alps, near the Italian and Austrian borders. Snowboarders and skiers come here for the wide variety of terrain along the 58kms of pistes, as well as the traditional and unhurried atmosphere.

There are numerous villages and hamlets under the Bohinj umbrella, with Bohinjska Bistrica being the main resort; however, all the villages have great visitor facilities in a traditional environment. Hotels, apartments, cabins and private homes provide the accommodation and there are more than 4,000 beds available to suit many budgets.

Bohinj has a total of 58kms of terrain, 23kms in Kobla and 35kms in Vogel, and 15 lifts serve all pistes. Kobla has 20 per cent beginner runs, 50 per cent intermediate/advanced and 30 per cent experts; while Vogel has 30 per cent beginner runs, 50 per cent intermediate/advanced and 20 per cent for experts. Kobla’s longest run is six kilometres, and Vogel’s is eight kilometres. Bohinj also has 21kms of cross-country runs, including the 10-kilometre course along the lake.

Other winter activities and facilities at Bohinj ski resort include: ice-skating on natural and artificial ice; waterfall ice-climbing; parasailing; paragliding; and hiking. In addition, more relaxing pursuits include indoor swimming, saunas and sightseeing. Fine dining, traditional Slovenian pubs and inns, as well as numerous regular bars, provide interesting aprčs-ski.

The mid-December to late March ski season at Bohinj has good snow conditions throughout, especially in February.

A flight to Ljubljana’s Golubovci Airport and car hire offers the quickest travel option to and from Bohinj ski resort. A more practical option is to take a shuttle to Ljubljana, from where trains go to Bohinjska Bistrica and other villages in the region, via Jesenice.
