Breckenridge is one of America’s more popular ski resorts owing to its fantastic range of slopes, excellent snowboarding facilities, extensive town amenities and convenient proximity to Denver. There are 150 runs at Breckenridge and four terrain parks, plus three half-pipes and a super-pipe.

Breckenridge was once an important gold mining town, with much of its restored grand Victorian architecture remaining as testament to the town’s original wealth. You’ll find hundreds of shops and boutiques offering the latest ski sportswear and the height of fashion, as well as galleries and interesting museums. Accommodation-wise, there are thousands of beds on offer in hotels, bed-and-breakfasts, condos and cosy private residences.

The 150 slopes at Breckenridge ski resort are divided into 14 per cent for beginners, 26 per cent for intermediates, 22 per cent for advanced sliders, and 38 per cent for experts. The longest slope is six kilometres, and 26 efficient lifts provide access. Meanwhile, snowboarders can use all the terrain, plus the four fabulous terrain parks and half-pipes; additionally, skiers have 90kms of cross-country trails.

Breckenridge has an extensive selection of off-piste activities and facilities, some of which include: telemarking, ski-blading, dog-sledding, snowshoe and snowmobiling tours, ice-skating and hockey. There is also a fully-equipped recreational centre. Additionally, shopping is also a favourite pastime here, as are fine dining in the many restaurants and partying in the scores of bars and pubs.

The best snow conditions are usually from late January to early March and there are cheaper rates at the beginning and end of the November to May season. Rate reductions are also available for the young and old. A combination of flying to Denver International Airport or Eagle County Regional Airport and transferring by shuttle bus is the most practical and popular travel option for getting to Breckenridge.
