Situated high in the Susa Valley, in the southwestern Alps, on the Italian/French border, Cesana Torinese ski resort is part of the extensive Milky Way ski area and features 40kms of mainly intermediate to advanced snowboarding and skiing terrain, with plenty more slopes to choose from in the region.
Six Alpine villages serve Cesana Torinese: Bousson, Desertes, Fenils, Mollieres, Solomiac and Thures. Modern facilities in a traditional environment add to their appeal and lodgings are offered in hotels and pensions. Childcare amenities can be found in nearby Sansicario.
Together with the French resort of Montgenevre, there are 85kms of slopes (40kms and 12 lifts in Cesana Torinese alone), of which 20 per cent are for beginners, 55 per cent for intermediates and 25 per cent for advanced snowboarders and skiers. Additionally, there are 27kms cross-country trails and plenty of off-piste.
Other winter activities and facilities include: hiking; ice-skating (natural); ice-hockey; bobsledding and dog-sledding. Additionally, the resort has a sauna and a covered pool, as well as some interesting local handicraft and clothing shops. There are a number of bars, cafés and discos to provide après-ski entertainment.
The December to April ski season at Cesana Torinese ski resort has perfect snow conditions in February, glacier skiing in the summer and special low season rates pre-Christmas holidays and towards the end of the season. The most practical way to get to Cesana Torinese is to fly to Turin and take a train to Oulx, from where buses go to and from the resort.
