Courchevel ski resort is a fashionable and cosmopolitan ski resort located in the Trois Vallees ski region - one of the world's biggest. Courchevel is the best resort in the area and offers a broad range of skiing and snowboarding across all levels of difficulty, with over 100 slopes to choose from.
With convenient slope access, a wide range of other sporting facilities, over 150 shops and some varied and affordable accommodation, Courchevel is hard to beat. There are 32,000 beds in chalets, apartments and hotels in all price ranges, from the budget option to luxurious resorts.
Every standard of skier and snowboarder is catered for at Courchevel; beginners will enjoy wide-open pastures, while experts will revel at the plummeting chutes. There are 102 runs with 26 suitable for beginners; 29 for intermediates; 36 for intermediate to advanced; and 11 dedicated to experts and professionals. The 36 lifts can move 70,000 people per hour and the longest run is 3.8kms. There are also 66kms of prepared cross-country trails.
Other winter activities and facilities include: ice-skating (artificial); sleigh riding; tobogganing; winter walking paths; an ice-climbing cascade and paragliding. In addition, there is indoor swimming (in hotels), a sauna, and a fitness centre. Other après-ski and night-time entertainment includes: folklore evenings, concerts, cinema, and several bars and discos. There is also a casino in nearby Brides les Bains.
The late November/December to late April/May ski season usually has excellent conditions in February to early March and the lowest rates at the beginning and the end of the season.
There are several options for getting to Courchevel ski resort, and the quickest is to fly to Geneva-Cointrin Airport and hire a car. More practically, take a train from the airport, via the city, to Moutiers, from where buses go to the resort.
