Ski and Snowboarding Information for Crested Butte Mountain, USA

Crested Butte Mountain resort is located in western Colorado, miles away from the nearest interstate highway, making it all the more appealing for the more discerning skier/snowboarder. Intermediate and expert sliders will be in their element here, and there is great powder for snowboarders along with two terrain parks (one for kids), and a super-pipe and mini-pipe.

The Victorian town of Crested Butte offers a full range of services and facilities, and boasts an abundance of stylish ski/sports shops, ski schools and a conference centre, while the resort itself is also well laid-out. You can stay at the slopes in one of two hotels, or retire to the relative comfort of the town, with its full range of lodgings in every price range.

Crested Butte Mountain has a fairly large ski and snowboard area, with 88 slopes that are divided into 15 per cent for beginners, 44 per cent intermediates, 10 per cent advanced and 31 per cent for experts. The longest run is 4.2kms, and 15 lift systems serve 19,000 people per hour. Snowboarders also have the excellent terrain parks, and cross-country skiers can enjoy 70kms of trails.

Other activities and facilities at Crested Butte Mountain resort include: snowmobiling, ice-skating, snowshoeing, sledding, dog-sledding, lighted tubing and ballooning. There is also indoor tennis, an athletic club, spa facilities, cinemas and plenty of galleries and boutiques. You’ll also find more than 40 restaurants, bars and pubs.

The November to April ski season at Crested Butte Mountain ski resort has its best snow conditions between January and March, and reduced rates the first two weeks and last one of the season. Due to Crested Butte Mountain’s remoteness, your most practical travel option for getting to the resort is to fly to Denver or Dallas and take a short hop across to nearby Gunnison County Airport, which is serviced by free shuttle buses.
