Ski and Snowboarding Information for Innsbruck-Igls, Austria

Igls ski resort has a superb setting beneath the famous Patscherköfel Mountain and is only six kilometres from the city of Innsbruck, in the Austrian Alps. Igls remains a popular skiing destination for those who appreciate great skiing in a more laid-back Alpine village resort.

The town itself is situated 908m above sea level in an attractive setting with a good choice of accommodation. Igls is easy to get around on foot and also has a number of quality year round attractions away from the slopes. An excellent children's ski school is on hand.

Igls isn't a ski resort for the thrill-seeking expert skier, but there are quality slopes for beginners through to those with intermediate skills, on varied terrain. There are also 20kms of cross-country trails and some tree skiing. There are seven lifts in all, including two chairlifts, five draglifts and a cable car.

Après-ski facilities include: a huge natural toboggan run; natural ice-skating rink; Alpine curling; riding stables; an indoor swimming pool; tennis hall with three courts; and a spa park, with deer park. The nightlife here is geared more towards the discerning skier but there are several bars, discos and dance halls to choose from.

The ski season begins in mid-December and runs until the beginning of April. The best conditions are in February and the cheapest times are two weeks before Christmas and towards the end of the season.

Igls ski resort is six kilometres from Innsbruck, which receives numerous flights from European destinations, such as London, Amsterdam and Paris. Free transfers are available by Skibus to the resort.
