Ski and Snowboarding Information for Kirchberg, Austria

Kirchberg ski resort is an excellent alternative to the larger Kitzbühel resort, due to its more affordable price. It is popular for those who are serious about their skiing and enjoy a good party atmosphere. The resort shares the same mountain as Kitzbühel with some equally good pistes.

The town is easy to explore on foot and the majority of the hotels and apartments are within easy reach of the après-ski activities and restaurants and bars. There are thousands of beds available, with luxury four-star hotels, lodges, pensions and private apartments all on offer.

There are 160kms of runs near Kirchberg, with the longest run being eight kilometres. Beginners have 48 per cent; intermediate skiers, 40 per cent; and advanced skiers 12 per cent of pistes. There are 120kms of cross-country trails in the region, with four primary trails, ranging from easy to difficult. Guides can take serious skiers on off-trail expeditions from Kirchberg that will delight even the most hardened experts. Snowboarding is also available, with terrain parks and half-pipes.

Other winter activities in Kirchberg resort include: tobogganing; sledding along a 3.8-kilometre floodlit sled trail; ice-skating; curling; and winter walks. In addition, there is indoor swimming, hot tubs, Jacuzzis, saunas, bowling, and a sports hall. Kirchberg is probably even more famous for its nightlife, which never seems to end.

The best skiing can be had between mid-February and mid-March with the cheapest rates from the week up to December 19 and from mid-March onwards.

Kirchberg ski resort is serviced by Munich, Salzburg and the provincial airport of Innsbruck, with train transfers an attractive and convenient option from each city. Driving from Munich Airport is a popular option but the most practical is to fly to Salzburg and take the train or bus from the city.
