Located in northwestern Slovenia, just north of the capital city, Ljubljana, Krvavec has been honoured as the best organized ski centre in Slovenia. The resort itself lies in the Logarska Dolina Valley and offers 25kms of fantastic snowboarding and skiing.
Krvavec ski centre is situated on a peak at the edge of the Kalska mountain range and offers a limited amount of accommodation in hotels. Those requiring a greater range of lodgings will find 1,400 beds in villages in the valley; while Kranj and Ljubljana offer even more choice. A ski kindergarten is also on hand.
Krvavec’s 25kms of slopes are divided well, with 20 per cent for beginners, 60 per cent for intermediates and 20 per cent for advanced skiers and snowboarders. Thirteen lifts provide access to all wide-open pistes, the longest of which is 4.5kms. A half-pipe and jumps are available for snowboarders and there are also three kilometres of cross-country trails.
Other winter activities and facilities at Krvavec ski resort include: sledding, a 350-metre tobogganing course, two ski jumps, a Jacuzzi, a fitness suite and a solarium. There are restaurants on and off the mountain and bars and a disco in the ski centre, for an interesting après-ski.
The late November to early May ski season at Krvavec resort has its best snow in February/March and cheaper weeks in mid-December and towards the season’s end.
Krvavec is so close to Ljubljana International Airport, the most practical travel option is to get a return flight to the airport and take a taxi or Skibus to the resort. Those arriving by train will terminate at nearby Kranj.
