Ski and Snowboarding Information for La Rosiere, France

La Rosiere is linked with the Italian ski resort of La Thuile across the Little Saint Bernard Pass. Both resorts offer 140kms of varied slopes, with an emphasis on the intermediate and advanced skier and snowboarder. Learner slopes are nice and wide and expert slopes are on the larger La Thuile.

The charming resort of La Rosiere features traditional French buildings of wooded chalets and is very laid-back compared with other Alpine resorts and, with its excellent childcare, La Rosiere is ideal for families. The mainstay of the lodging options is chalets and apartments, while shops are limited to a couple of shopping malls.

La Rosiere's 63 runs are served by 37 lifts, totalling 140kms, and are comprised of seven (green) beginner runs; 20 (blue) intermediate; 25 (red) advanced; and 11 (black) suitable for expert skiers and snowboarders. The high altitude pistes combine with the Italian area of La Thuile to offer excellent skiing. Additionally, there are 12kms of cross-country routes.

Other winter activities and facilities include: a snowboard park; heli-skiing; winter walking trails; husky-drawn sleigh rides and paragliding. La Rosiere is the only resort in France to offer heli-skiing through its link with La Thuile in Italy. Après-ski options are quite limited, but there are a few bars in town and some good restaurants.

The November to May ski season has good snow conditions in February and March, with special deals offered before the Christmas holidays, after the New Year, and after Easter.

The most common way to get to La Rosiere ski resort is to fly to Geneva and take the Skibus to the resort. Alternatively, take a train from the airport to Bourg St Maurice, and then a shuttle bus to La Rosiere.
