Ski and Snowboarding Information for Las Vegas, USA

Set in the Lee Canyon area of Mt Charleston, Las Vegas ski and snowboard resort provides views of the surrounding Toiyabe National Forest, while catering for all ranges of mountain-related activities from cross-country to downhill skiing and snowboarding.

The ski resort tends to be more crowded than other ski areas in the vicinity due to its proximity to downtown Las Vegas, but nevertheless provides a welcome break from the regular tourist activities that the area offers. Accommodation can be found nearby at both the Mt Charleston Hotel and Mt Charleston Lodge and Resort, or you may prefer to stay in nearby downtown Las Vegas where options are greater.

The ski and snowboard resort has 16 hectares of skiable terrain, with pistes divided into 20 per cent beginner, 60 per cent intermediate, and the remaining 20 per cent advanced. The resort also has half-pipes and a terrain park providing thrills for snowboarders and accomplished skiers. Three lifts are in operation, carrying up to 2,500 people per hour to a maximum height of 2,900m.

Brian’s Head is the nearest alternative ski centre to Las Vegas; however, if you are looking for activities away from the slopes, head to downtown Vegas where there is no shortage of things to do even if you are not a fan of the many casinos. Shows and indoor entertainments are plentiful, while a 35-kilometre drive to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area provides an interesting day out.

Provided there are good snowmaking conditions, the ski season at Las Vegas runs from mid-November to early April. The most convenient way to get here is take a flight to McCarran International Airport then transfer by hire car.
