Situated in the huge Portes du Soleil ski area, to the south of Lake Geneva, Les Gets is a peaceful resort and a favourite with families. There are 120kms of runs in Les Gets for all levels, and a further 530kms in the region.
The village of Les Gets is situated in the heart of the Portes du Soleil region and is tastefully adorned with genuine chalets and lodges. Additionally, a pretty church tops off the traditional village atmosphere. Les Gets has a wide range of accommodation in mainly hotels and chalets, with 15,000 beds available.
Sixty-five slopes run over 120kms of pisted terrain, with 40 per cent of the slopes suitable for beginners, 45 per cent for intermediates and 15 per cent for experts. Thousands of skiers and snowboarders are lifted every hour via 53 state-of-the-art ski lifts. The longest run is eight kilometres, and there are also 18kms of cross-country skiing trails.
Other winter activities and facilities at Les Gets ski resort include: a snow park for snowboarders; ice-skating; snowshoeing; paragliding; dog-sledding and winter walking trails. In addition, there is bowling, swimming and parapenting. Nightly entertainment is often based around the larger hotels and restaurants and there are also a handful of bars and a nightclub.
The mid-December to late April ski season has excellent snow conditions in February and fixed rates throughout the season.
The most practical way to get to and from Les Gets is to fly to Geneva-Cointrin Airport and take the dedicated Skibus (Altibus). Hiring a car is the most convenient option and there is also a train/bus connection, via Cluses. Those on package deals will usually have transfers prearranged.
