Les Trois Vallees is about 200kms east of Lyon and 150kms south of Geneva and is only directly accessible by road, but nearby Moutiers has a major rail terminal and connections with airports are good. The quickest way here is to fly to Chambery, Geneva or Lyon and hire a car, with international rail travel being the next best option, while self-driving can be difficult.
The nearest airport is Chambery Airport, while Geneva-Cointrin Airport (140kms) offers far more flight options and Lyon-Satolas is the next best alternative. Transferring by hire car is the best option from Geneva-Cointrin and Lyon-Satolas airports due to long train/bus transfers; while a bus goes from Chambery to the Les Trois Vallees region. By car, expect a two- to three-hour drive, and by public transport, plan for four hours.
Getting to Geneva or Lyon is straightforward by car, but roads into Les Trois Vallees can become congested in bad weather. However, if you’re driving from the UK, the 950-kilometre route from Calais goes via Reims, Dijon, Lyon, Chambery and Moutiers and takes about 10 hours.
From Geneva-Cointrin Airport, head for Annecy and then Moutiers, before taking the D-915/915A into the region. From Lyon-Satolas Airport, take the A-43 to Chambery and continue on the A-43/430 and N-90 for Moutiers, as above.
Possibly the most convenient way to Les Trois Vallees, if travelling from London, is to take the direct Eurostar train service from Waterloo station to Moutiers (30kms from the resorts). From Moutiers, take a bus or taxi to your resort/village. Trains from London also go to Paris, with a change to a Moutiers-bound train at gare de Lyon.
Eurolines buses run from many European cities to Lyon and Grenoble, from where trains and buses go onto Les Trois Vallees.
