Ski and Snowboarding Information for Livigno, Italy

Located on the Swiss border, in the north of Italy, Livigno is a buzzing ski resort with over 100kms of superb skiing and snowboarding slopes, high up in the central Alps. Lots of sunshine and virtually guaranteed snow, together with its duty-free status and vibrant nightlife, make Livigno a great all around winter destination.

Livigno is a 16th century town and is the highest resort in Europe to be permanently inhabited. There are a huge number of shops and restaurants, with restaurants alone doubling the amount of hotels, which stands at about 100. Accommodation is mainly in hotels and a scattering of apartments, with 5,000 beds on offer.

Livigno’s 110kms of pistes are comprised of 42 per cent beginner runs, 46 per cent for intermediates and 12 per cent suited to advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders. There are 33 lifts, with a capacity for over 46,000 people per hour. The longest run is seven kilometres and, in addition, there are also 40kms of cross-country skiing trails.

Other winter activities and facilities include: ice-skating; curling; mono-skiing; mountaineering; winter walking trails; paragliding; horse-drawn sleigh riding and regular horseback riding. There is also a fitness centre, swimming pools and saunas. There is never a shortage of night-time activities with Livigno’s unrelenting complement of cafés, bars and discos.

The November to May ski season at Livigno ski resort has good snow throughout the season, especially from February to mid-March. There are also special low season rates.

The most practical way to get to Livigno is to fly to Milan-Linate or Zürich International Airport, from where trains and buses go to the resort. Travelling by hire car will shave an hour off the transfer times.
