Mission Ridge ski resort is located on the eastern slope of the North Cascade Mountains in central Washington, and is well known for its 300 days of sunshine per year and superb powder. There are 360 hectares of fantastic terrain for all levels as well as a terrain park, half-pipe, and lessons available onsite for snowboarding.
There is a ski school, ski shop, conference facilities and first-aid at the resort. Accommodation-wise, Wenatchee offers hotels, motels and bed-and-breakfasts, and is connected to Mission Ridge by free shuttle buses. Lodgings are also available in the nearby town of Leavenworth. Mission Ridge itself has no slope-side lodging, apart from camper parking.
Mission Ridge boasts 360 hectares of slopes on a 660-metre vertical; the runs are divided into 10 per cent for beginners, 60 per cent for intermediates and 30 per cent for advanced snowboarders and skiers. The longest slope here is 3.2kms, and five lifts provide piste access for up to 4,300 people per hour. Snowboarders also have a terrain park and half-pipe.
Other winter activities and facilities at Mission Ridge ski resort include: snow tubing, helicopter tours, ice-skating, sleigh riding, snowmobiling, swimming and telemarking. Alternatively, there is a museum to explore in Wenatchee, along with more than 30 restaurants and lounges. Nearby Leavenworth is known for its love of beer.
The December to April ski season at Mission Ridge has its most favourable natural snow conditions from the end of January and throughout February. Twenty per cent of the ski domain is covered by snow cannons. Mission Ridge is best accessed by flying to either Seattle or Spokane and hiring a car or taking a shuttle bus. A free shuttle bus runs from Wenatchee to the resort and back throughout the day.
