Ski and Snowboarding Information for Molines, France

Molines ski resort is located in the southeast of France, in the Hautes-Alpes region, near the Italian border, and is a very laid-back and peaceful resort for those who prefer good skiing away from the tourist hordes. There are 38kms of snowboarding and skiing pistes and a good selection of cross-country trails.

The traditional village of Molines is fairly limited in its services which include a bank, post office and some handicraft shops. Lodging options are also slim and limited to four main hotels and a handful of chalets and private residences, while the evening entertainment consists of dining at one of the few restaurants and gathering around the hotel bars.

Although there are only 38kms of pistes, all levels of experience are catered for, with seven beginner (green) runs, seven intermediate (blue) runs, 14 advanced (red) runs and three expert (black) runs, with access provided by 15 lifts. For thrill-seeking snowboarders, the north face of the Pic de Chateaurenard has some excellent off-piste. Additionally, 55kms of cross-country trails go through stunning Alpine scenery.

There are a few other activities at Molines ski resort for the non-skier, or for those who want a break from the slopes. Snowshoe trekking, ice-climbing, parasailing and dog-sledding through the Aigue Agnelle Valley are all available and offer unrivalled panoramas of the Hautes-Alpes region.

The December to March ski season at Molines has its best snow conditions in February. The only practical way to get to Molines ski resort is to fly to Grenoble and hire a car. There is a rail station at nearby Mont-Dauphin, from where buses go to Molines, and services connect with Grenoble.
