Montana Snowbowl is a laid-back and affordable ski resort receiving plenty of snow and offering a wide variety of excellent snowboard and ski terrain. There are 35 runs here across easy and difficult terrain, with extensive gladed slopes, a terrain park and natural half-pipes.
The resort has all modern services and amenities, including a ski shop, ski school and other facilities contained in the main base lodge and surrounding buildings. The European-style Gelandesprung Lodge is the main accommodation near the slopes, and there are also some other inns and motels; while Missoula has plenty of extra beds.
Montana Snowbowl’s 35 slopes are divided into 20 per cent for beginners, 40 per cent for intermediates, 25 per cent for advanced snowboarders and skiers, and 15 per cent for experts. Four lifts can handle 3,400 people per hour and provide access to the pistes, the longest of which is Paradise (4.8kms).
In addition, night skiing and snowcat skiing are also possible, as are ice-skating, indoor tennis, and college athletics. For relaxation, head for Jackson Hot Springs. Après-ski is best enjoyed in Missoula, with its shopping mall, array of eateries, and bars, discos and casinos.
The late November to early April ski season at Montana Snowbowl enjoys its best snow conditions in February and has special discount rates leading up to the holiday season. A combination of flying to Missoula International Airport and transferring by shuttle bus from the city is the most practical travel option for getting to Montana Snowbowl ski resort.
