Located in the south of Vermont, Mount Snow is a major snowboard and ski destination and offers a variety of terrain, including a long novice trail from the summit and one of the steepest expert slopes in New England. All 145 trails are open to snowboarders, along with a super-pipe and four terrain parks of varying difficulties: Un Blanco Gulch, Grommet, El Diablo and Inferno.
There are six lodges at the Mount Snow resort: five at the base and one at the summit. Additionally, there are a range of shops, including rental stores and boutiques and conference services. Purpose-built Mount Snow features an array of lodgings in a total of 50 hotel/resorts, motels, inns, cottages and grand lodges.
Mount Snow ski resort’s 80kms of varied terrain runs over five small peaks and 145 slopes that are divided into 16 per cent for beginners, 62 per cent for intermediates, 20 per cent for advanced sliders, and just two per cent for experts. Twenty-three lifts with an hourly capacity of 36,200 skiers run over a 520-metre vertical to supply all pistes, the longest of which is four kilometres.
There are a variety of other winter activities and facilities offered at Mount Snow, including: tubing, snowmobiling, cross-country and snowshoe touring, sleigh riding and dog-sledding. You’ll also find complete spa services and fitness suites, as well as over 40 restaurants, shopping, museums, and theatres and bars.
The November to April ski season at Mount Snow resort has 75 per cent artificial snowmaking and has its best natural snow throughout February; kids under six years old ski for free when accompanied with a paying adult. Flying to Albany County Airport and taking a shuttle bus transfer to Mount Snow is the most practical travel option for getting to the resort. Car hire is feasible but not really necessary as there are free shuttle buses at Mount Snow.
