Ski and Snowboarding Information for Neustift im Stubaital, Austria

Neustift im Stubaital ski resort is very popular with families and is open year round due to the high altitude of its runs (the top base is 2,080m above sea level). Neustift is located in the Stubai Valley within close proximity of the provincial capital, Innsbruck, which adds to its appeal. From the top of the Stubai Glacier, there are excellent views of the Dolomite Mountains.

Neustift's Alpine village has a traditional Tyrolean atmosphere and charm, and offers many sights and facilities away from the slopes. Eight thousand beds are available in Neustift, with a wide range of accommodation. There is a farmers' market every fortnight with ecologically varied products, as well as souvenir shops and clothing stores.

There are 36 runs along 66kms of groomed slopes; the longest run is 10kms. Twenty-five per cent of the runs are suitable for beginners (red); 50 per cent for intermediate skiers (blue); and 25 per cent for advanced (black). Twenty-nine ski lifts can transport up to 36,000 skiers per hour. Neustift and the surrounding area also offer 45kms of cross-country skiing trails, and ski touring.

Activities away from the slopes include: curling; hiking; ice-skating (natural); indoor tennis and swimming; sleigh riding; squash; snowboarding (permitted on all slopes); bowling; tobogganing (day and night); horseback riding; folklore evenings; paragliding; and ice-climbing and carving. Après-ski and nightlife includes 23 cafés, 12 bars (including two ice bars), 14 pubs, and two discos.

There is year round skiing at Neustift im Stubaital with best conditions from mid-February to mid-March and special rates at various times.

The most popular and practical way of getting to Neustift im Stubaital ski resort is to take a scheduled or charter flight to Munich, hire a car and drive to the ski resort (2 hours, 45 minutes).
