Ski and Snowboarding Information for Piancavallo, Italy

Piancavallo ski resort is situated in the southern region of the eastern Alps and is popular with all ages and skill levels, especially the young, who are attracted to the regular freestyle championships held here. Twenty-seven fantastic pistes stretch across 700m of vertical mountainside.

Piancavallo is a purpose-built resort boasting ski-in/ski-out accessibility and a terrific atmosphere. The centre of Piancavallo is traffic-free and is loaded with shops and boutiques, while 7,500 beds are divided among hotels, chalets and apartments, and are available in all price ranges.

Many of Piancavallo’s 27 slopes are tree-lined and are divided into 30 per cent for beginners, 50 per cent for intermediates, and 20 per cent for advanced skiers and snowboarders. Thousands of people per hour are transported by 18 lift systems, over 700m of vertical terrain, to all pistes. In addition, there are 25kms of superb cross-country trails.

Other winter activities and facilities at Piancavallo ski resort include: ice–skating, tobogganing, sleigh riding and snowshoe walking. For swimming, head to nearby Aviano (20kms), while bowling is in Piano (18kms). Shoppers have the covered central arcade, with its boutiques and sports shops, and après-ski time is enlivened by a multitude of bars and discos.

The best snow conditions of the December to March ski season at Piancavallo ski resort are from late January to late February, while children get 30 per cent reductions at any time.

The most practical travel option to Piancavallo is to take a flight to Treviso Airport. From there, take a shuttle to the city of Treviso, from where trains go to Aviano and buses then go to Piancavallo.
