The Reit im Winkl resort is located in southeast Bavaria and is popular with alpine and cross-country skiers. Its terrain of open snowfields and tree-lined slopes straddles the German-Austrian border and can be accessed from either country. Runs are mainly intermediate but with plenty of beginner slopes and a few advanced pistes.
Reit im Winkl itself, with its atmospheric Alpine village feel and wide ranging accommodations, is a great place to stay. There are over 5,000 beds in hotels, guesthouses and pensions, from the affordable to the luxurious. Shopping services are plentiful and the kindergarten is excellent.
Reit im Winkl’s 50kms of groomed slopes are divided into beginner, intermediate, and advanced terrain, and there is a longest run of 9.6kms. There are 16 lifts with a capacity for 24,000 skiers per hour. In addition to the pistes, there are 90kms of superb cross-country tracks in the areas of Reit im Winkl, Winklmoos-Alm, and Hemmersuppenalm.
Other winter activities and facilities include: snowboarding; mono-skiing; curling; hiking; horse-drawn sleigh rides; mountaineering; ice skating (artificial); sauna; and indoor swimming/tennis. Folklore evenings and concert performances are popular in Reit im Winkl, and there is also an array of bars and discos.

Münich receives most of the traffic for Reit im Winkl and there are train and bus combinations for reaching the ski resort. The most convenient way to Reit im Winkl from the airport is to hire a car.
