Ski and Snowboarding Information for Saas-Fee, Switzerland

Saas - Fee ski resort is located in the south of Switzerland, near the Italian border, and offers great skiing and snowboarding in spectacular scenery, including a fierce-looking glacier. The ski domain is fairly expansive, with 100kms of pistes favouring intermediates and beginners; additionally, there is a superb snowboard park.

The car-free mountain village of Saas - Fee, surrounded by a multitude of 4,000-metre high Alpine peaks, has a village atmosphere and remarkable charm. The village streets are a mixture of centuries-old, weathered farm buildings, modern hotels, and many shops. There are 7,500 beds in hotels, chalets and apartments.

Twenty-two modern lift systems cover the ski field and the resort's 100kms of slopes. Runs are divided into 25 per cent beginner; 50 per cent intermediate; and 25 per cent for advanced skiers. The longest run is nine kilometres and the lift capacity is 22,690 people per hour. There are also six kilometres of classic cross-country trails.

A snow park boasts jumps, five rails, a half-pipe and a triple kicker line. Additionally, 20kms of winter hiking trails and a sled run are all part of the extensive range of winter sports. There is also snowshoeing; ice-skating (natural); curling; and mountaineering.

Visitors can also enjoy the indoor swimming pool; sauna; hot tub and Jacuzzi; tennis; fitness centre and a sports hall. Après-ski bars and snow bars on the mountain, as well as pubs, bars and discos in the village are all popular.

The November to April ski season at the Saas - Fee ski resort has great snow in February and summer skiing to June, while cheap rates are offered in mid-December, mid-January, and mid-March to April.

The most practical way to get to Saas - Fee ski resort is to fly to Geneva or Zürich, and take a train/bus combination. Car hire is popular, saves a lot of time and gives the option to explore the region.
