Ski and Snowboarding Information for Sierra Summit, USA

Sierra Summit ski resort has a stunning location on Huntington Lake and is situated in between the world famous Yosemite and Kings Canyon national parks. There are 40 runs here for every level and three freestyle terrain parks for snowboarders.

The Sierra Summit Inn offers a variety of rooms and suites and is located slope-side, and there is a range of other condos and hotels nearby. There is no childcare at the resort, but kids’ ski programmes are available, and you’ll also find a ski shop and rentals at the base.

The 40 runs at Sierra Summit are divided into 11 per cent for novices, 28 per cent for intermediates, 33 per cent for upper intermediates, and 28 per cent for advanced sliders. The longest slope, known as Academy, is 3.6kms. There are nine lifts at Sierra Summit and three terrain parks, featuring curves, banks, rollers, jumps, jibs, rails and boxes.

The resort also offers the Family Fun Zone, with gentle rollers and small jumps for beginners and children, as well as racing; however, normal non-ski facilities are limited. If you hanker for extra activities, head for nearby Mammoth Lakes. A restaurant and bar in the Sierra Summit Inn provide the après-ski for the resort.

The November to April ski season at Sierra Summit ski resort has its best natural conditions in late January/February, and kids under seven years ski for free. As Sierra Summit is fairly remote from most airports, self-drive is sometimes the best travel option, while overseas visitors should fly to San Francisco and hire a car or take a shuttle transfer.
