Ski and Snowboarding Information for Ski Cooper, USA

Ski Cooper ski resort is noted for its beautiful location in the White River National Forest and its proximity to the major centre, Denver. It appeals to skiers and families who prefer a quieter sliding experience, yet offers plenty of easy runs and a snowboard park, when snow conditions permit.

Most of the facilities and services are located in historic Leadville, 15kms to the south; although Ski Cooper has everything you will need, including a reputable ski school, a ski shop, rentals and repairs, and first-aid. Leadville, with its condos, bed-and-breakfasts, hotels and motels, is also the accommodation base.

Ski Cooper has 26 runs across a 360-metre vertical, encompassing 160 hectares of varied terrain that is divided into 30 per cent for novices, 40 per cent for intermediates and 30 per cent for advanced and expert snowboarders and skiers. The longest of these pistes is 2.2kms, and all are fed by four lift systems. Additionally, snowboarders have the terrain park, and cross-country skiers can enjoy 25kms of groomed trails.

Apart from the on-piste sliding, Ski Cooper also offers and array of other activities and facilities, including: snowmobiling, ice-skating, tubing, sleigh riding, swimming and backcountry snowcat tours. For further entertainment, Leadville has a variety of shops, museums and restaurants, as well as pubs and bars.

The ski season at Ski Cooper extends from mid-November until late March/early April, and the best snow conditions can be had from mid-January to mid-February. Lift prices remain constant throughout the season. The most practical travel option for visitors from overseas is to fly to Denver and transfer to Ski Cooper resort by shuttle bus, or take a short hop to Eagle Airport and transfer from there.
