Located in north Italy amid the striking Dolomite Mountains, Val di Fiemme is a large ski resort with 150kms of superb snowboard and ski slopes with access to a further 1,050kms of the Dolomiti Super ski region. Families will find facilities hard to beat and, in addition to the groomed runs, there are excellent cross-country trails.
The various family-friendly villages of Val di Fiemme are set in beautiful surroundings and come with a range of facilities and great shopping opportunities. There is no shortage of accommodation, with beds for over 50,000 people in hotels, apartments and private residences.
Val di Fiemme has 150kms of fantastic pistes that are divided among 40 per cent for novices, 40 per cent for intermediates and 20 per cent for advanced snowboarders and skiers. The longest run is 4.5kms and access is provided to all slopes by 51 lifts with an uplift capacity of 72,000 people per hour. In addition to the pistes, there are 150kms of outstanding cross-country runs and a snowboard park for boarders.
Other winter activities and facilities include: hiking, natural and artificial ice-skating, ice-climbing, mono-skiing, mountaineering and paragliding, as well as saunas, indoor swimming and tennis and wellness centres. There are numerous cafés and restaurants, and bars and discos, with concerts and folklore evenings also popular.
The December to April ski season at Val di Fiemme ski resort has its best snow conditions in February, and cheaper weeks before the Christmas holidays and towards the end of the season.
Val di Fiemme ski resort is best accessed by flying to Bolzano and transferring by bus to the resort. If you fly into Venice or Verona, you have the option of train and bus combination transfer, or car hire.
